I have put a lot of work to store all info I needed in Numbers and now it won't open. 😟
I get this message: "filename.numbers can't be opened".
Is there anything I can do to recover it or at least somehow see or export the data?

try using the menu item "File > Revert To... > ..."
Also restore a version from you Time Machine Backup. If you do not have a Time Machine backup you should set one up right away.
Also look for Copies of the document you have shared in your sent email or on Flash drives
Thank you, Wayne. I can't go to "File >" because it never opens... The document was on iCloud so I never emailed it...
I do not use iCloud. Does iCloud have a previous version?
Try looking in this folder on your mac:
- open the menu item (in the Finder) "Go > Go To Folder..."
- enter the path "~/Library/Mobile Documents/"
look for your document in the folder "com~apple~Numbers"
I am having the same problem, and I am DESPERATE to have this fixed. This is the most critical file for my company, it would take days or weeks to recreate from scratch. I can't believe I've been dumb enough to not DL a backup copy, but I've been updating it 20 times a day for the past 3 months....

I dragged my numbers files to my hard drive off icloud so are local on my computer and now they open.
