macbook pro won't connect to my hp deskjet 3054 anymore

I've lost my connection somehow to my HP Deskjet 3054. I've downloaded the driver from HP numerous times but when I get to the step to 'add' a printer I just get a message saying that the driver is not available from Apple and to download it from the manufacturer!!! ARRRRRGGGGGA!! I've got the software in my computer but the Add Printer window won't find it. SOOOOOO frustrating.
