Send icon disappeared from MAIL toolbar

Send icon disappeared from MAIL toolbar

In MAIL, the toolbar displays the usual Get Mail, Forward, etc. icons but the Send icon disappeared. It's not in "Customize Toolbar" either. I can select Message - Send, but it's more convenient to have the Send icon on the toolbar. Any idea where it went, and how I can get it back? I Quit MAIL and re-launched it, but that didn't help.

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Go to Mail (menu) > File > New message > View > Customise toolbar > and click / drag the send icon into its normal place.

Edit The customise toolbar contents vary according to where you raise it from.
