Why did my loops turn gray, then disappear from loops browser in GarageBand?

I loaded up GarageBand (empty project) and not only were most of the loops gray but the ones that weren't wouldn't even play when clicked. I restarted app and still the same. No other apps running. Reindexed all loops. ALL 3rd party loops along with update sounds VANISH. Please tell me where to find them and restore my 100K+ library of loops. They still account for space on the hard drive

GarageBand (Mac) '11, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Your Loops should be installed in the System Library: Check this folder:

/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/

Click the folder "Library" directly at the top level of your macintosh HD, then open "Audio", then "Apple Loops".

Have you indexed the Apple Loops? Maybe you need to rebuild the Loop Index. If you open the Loop Browser in GarageBand, then click the title "Loops" at the top of the panel, you will see a drop down menu. Use the last item "Reindex all Loops".

If the loops you are looking for have not been installed, you may need to install the additional Purchase.

Have you tried the command "GarageBand > Restore Sound Library" from the main GarageBand menu?

If that will not bring the missing loops back, try reinstalling garageBAnd. Perhaps your download has been incomplete.
