The annihilation of "Spotlight Search".

Dear Sir / Madam,

When I try to write my email, I get annoying pop-ups, probably created by Apple, called Spotlight Search.

How do I delete, permanently disable, eradicate, exterminate, and get rid of this intensely ANNOYING feature?

I have tried Googling the answer and ended up here:

Turn on/turn off Spotlight

You can enable or disable Spotlight search for specific types of content, and change the order in which results are displayed by tapping Settings > General > Spotlight Search.

May I suggest that you companies such as Apple, Microsoft and Google, employ staff-members who have basic education, such as an 'O'-level in English Language, before they are allowed to write on the web?

1) "Tapping"? What is this? Tapping the wall or the radiator pipes? Please explain. Perhaps you mean "General" under "System Preferences" where I can find no reference to annihilating evil "Spotlight Search".

Yours faithfully,

Hadrian Coulton.

Those instructions are for iOS, not OS X. Spotlight should not be popping up while you compose email, unless you're inadvertently pressing the command and space keys at the same time, or you've changed the keyboard shortcut in the Spotlight preference pane. You have the option of unchecking the box to set a keyboard shortcut, in which case Spotlight will only come up when you click its icon in the menu bar.
