Feb 13, 2015 6:00 PM in response to Lasey L.by jndupuis1,Had a similar issue on my Mac Mini. I did the simple first. NPRAM reset. I let NPRAM cycle more than once. Mac continued to boot then shutdown. I followed up wit an SMC reset. Then powered up. Of course I had to go into presences and readjust settings, but it worked for me.

Feb 13, 2015 6:19 PM in response to Lasey L.by jndupuis1,I figured so. My apology. Is noise due to erratic speed or maybe dirty?
I did notice with my Apple 27" Thunderbolt Display, I reduced the brightness and my fan stopped sounding like a turbo jet when Display got hot. I've a fan both in the Mini and in Display.

Feb 13, 2015 6:38 PM in response to jndupuis1by Lasey L.,It's not getting hot at all. When it wakes from sleep it is quiet, then the fan gets gradually louder and louder and it doesn't get quieter ever, ever when I quit all the applications. It seems like it's just running with no regulation. I have a feeling it has something to do with the heat sensor and I'll eventually have to open it up to fix the problem, but I would like to try all other options first. And I figure it's probably good to update the firmware anyway whether it's the cause of the problem or not.
