You would have to start up in Recovery mode and destroy the logical volume group (also destroying all data in the process), partition, and then restore the data from a backup. Almost certainly this is not a good idea unless you need to dual boot, but that wasn't your question.

Feb 14, 2015 3:53 AM in response to Linc Davisby cheftomny,Thanks for. The info. I wanted to install both Final Cut Pro 7 and X. But from what I understand they don't recommend installing them on the same partition.
I wonder if I could use an external drive to create a boot drive for version X?
