When starting up my iMac I am getting a grey screen with a flashing file folder with a question mark in the middle. I have no access to anything.

I did everything it says to do and I now get a grey screen with my pointer arrow. It will not show startup disk or anything else or allow me to do anything else. Any other suggestions? Thank You for the help.
Sounds like you internal hard drive has failed.
