Q: Safari 8.0.3 does not work with Mac OSx

Since I installed OSx !0 ( now 10.10.2 ) on my McBook Pro and Safari 8.0.3 Safari has been unusable, As it tries to load a page the "blue loading" bar only gets 1/4 - 1/3 across and then hangs.

I have tried the deleting of old data etc, and when I try to look at extensions  I get a blank page with the same 1/4 blue loading.

I have found that the Macbook Pro is much slower since the upgrade to OSX, and have taken to using Mozilla as Safari is no good now.

I get a lot of the spinning beach ball during many actions. This is now a very frustrating machine to use.

I regularly clean up he machine and run the disc utility corrections.

Makes no difference to the performance or Safari.

It would be nice if Apple could test these things before shipping as we pay a premium for Apple products.

Regards

David, Thanks for the clarification,  I have done as you suggested but with  no noticeable improvement.

I have 8gb Ram and 172gb HDD free space. out of 500gb.

Again run "Repair Disc Permissions",  There are always the same things being corrected and the following warning, is this significant ?

Warning: SUID file “System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent” has been modified and will not be repaired.

Verify disc returns a:  File system check exit code is 0.

    Thanks again for your advice.

Repair Permissions and Repair (or Verify) Disk are totally different processes.  I believe it's generally acknowledged that Repair Permissions is superfluous; I think since about 10.6 at least.  I also think Verify Disk borders on being superfluous.  Why not just go ahead and run Repair Disk?

As stated, Repair Disk must be run from another volume other than the startup volume.  Therefore, you have to have an Install DVD, an external HDD with the OS installed, a repair utility DVD like Tech Tool Pro, etc, etc.  Maybe someone can advise how to run it without one of those.

Another thing to look at is Login Items.  Too many or incompatible third party apps at startup can affect performance.  Go to SysPrefs>Accounts>Login Items.

Thanks for all your input folks,  I still find Safari very slow, Mozilla is much better/faster  as  far as I am concerned.

I have been through all your recommendations but since upgrading to OSX "Yosemite" ? ( The latest version ) I have noticed that boot up and performance is slower.  I would expect better performance from a 2.4 Ghz processor with 8Ghz of ram. Also the spinning beach ball is much more prevalent now.

Anyway I do appreciate all your help and advice.

    Thanks
