I have a question, I want to upgrade the RAM from my Mac Mini 2012 and I'd like to know, if I can use this product?
Samsung 8 GB 2Rx8 PC3L - 12800S - 11 - 12 - F3
(and is it bad if it has 1.35 volt?)
Mac mini (Late 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)
The Apple support site says: PC3-12800 1,50 volt 1600 Mhz DDR3 204-pin SO-DIMM
But the only one from Samsung I can find is: DDR3 1600 Mhz 204-pin PC3L-12800S SO-DIMM.
So I don't know, if the difference from 0,15 volt is dramatic for the Mac?
(Because the L means "Low Voltage" and works with 1,35 volt / and the S means SO-DIMM for Samsung)
I wen to Samsung's site and could not find a memory selector. I could not even find emory, just storage.

I would not get the Samsung memory. It may not work and you would then have to return it. Stick with memory that the manufacturer says will work with your model Mini

On the Samsung link you provided I could not find where it says that memory will work with your Mac. The Samsung specs say it should be compatible but Macs are picky about memory.
I myself would not get the Samsung memory
you posted a link to OWC ram in another thread and this memory also works with 1.35 (optional 1.5) DDR3L 1600 Mhz 12800S PC3L
Mac with the 3rd generation intel core and above are supporting DDR3/L/RS/1600 memory.
so I think Apple wants us to buy the mac with the RAM you want from the beginning.
because even the memory you said i should buy (certified), has different specs as the ones that apple says they have to match
obviously it works perfectly since 3 days 🙂
i just wanted to be sure if DDR3L works with an DDR3 slot and indeed it does, because of intels ivy bridge processors and the backward compatibility.

If Samsung specifically says it will work with a 2012 Mac Mini then it is OK. Otherwise I would not get it. Macs are picky about emory
Would it affect the Mac when using a slightly "wrong" ram?
Worse case the Mac will not boot, Other possible problems are that only one stick will work or the Mac will periodically crash

As I said before, Macs are picky about memory and just because the memory meets the specs doesn't mean it will work in a Mac.
Mac Mini (late 2012) memory upgradeable. Use Corsair and you will be fine.
but i've already samsung ddr3l ram
and corsair, OWC and crucial all have the same specs and certificates as the samsung memory. (JEDEC)
If the Samsung memory works then all is OK,. Otherwise return it.
