How can I move music file to correct album

When ITunes imported an album (a compilation) it put one music file in a separate album with the same name. How can I get that song into the right album. It is already in the same folder but ITunes does not recognize that it is the same album.

In iTunes, select all the tracks that should be part of the album, right-click > Get Info, then update information to make sure that:

  • all tracks have the same value in the Album field, and
  • all tracks have the same value in the Album Artist field, and/or
  • all tracks have the Album is a compilation of songs by various artists flag checked

The tracks that make a up a compilation album should be grouped together if the 1st and 2nd condition are true, the 1st and 3rd, or all three (this last case being somewhat redundant). If the Album is a compilation of songs by various artists flag is checked then the media files will be stored (by default, assuming that you're allowing iTunes to organize your library) in C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\Compilations\album_name; otherwise they will be stored in C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\album_artist_name\album_name. Do not try to move media files yourself - this will almost inevitably cause iTunes to lose track of there the media files are stored.
