iPod will not restore

i bought this 80 gig iPod classic 6th generation at a thrift store they said it was locked with a password, so I brought it home and charged it up and there was a password so I went to my computer and proceeded to try to restore it but every time there is an error (9006). How can I restore (I don't care about the information on it)
