Imovie freezes when optimizing a video

I recently added a new event and transferred a short video o my mac 10.7.5 IMovie froze when It tried to optimize the video. Now every time I try to open up IMovie, it automatically creates thumbnail, then tries to optimize the same movie but always freezes up. I erased the movie from my hard drive but am still experiencing the same problem. Any suggestions?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Mostly guesswork here, since I do not know the inner workings of iMovie, but it appears it needs 675 MB of real RAM to do what it's trying, but you only have 350 MB free.

There must be a way to stop it, maybe try moving this file to the desktop for now when iMovie isn't running...

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iMovie.plist

Other than that, more RAM might be the solution...

At the Apple Icon at top left>About this Mac, then click on More Info, then click on Hardware> and report this upto but not including the Serial#...
