"iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod ..."

Any updates to the error message "iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod. Go to the Summary tab i iPod preferences andclick Restore to restore this iPod to factory settings"? I have a iPod Nano 7th gen purchased a couple months ago. It works for a bit after a restore, but within a few re-comnections to your PC it does it again, and you have to restore and load it up fresh with content. It's recognized by the PC in Windows Exporer. Can play contents that you have already on the unit, but you can't to iTunes to update any content. I note from older posts that you can rename the CDB, Control, and Prefs files and get it to work, but that's only a temporary solution until the next time you reconnect. I've uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes, and tried restoring the Nano on a different PC; both don't solve the issue. I can't be the only one out there with this issue..... Thanks for advice.

Hi cpgerlach,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like the iPod disk is not able to be read. It looks like you have already done some troubleshooting. I would recommend that you read the whole article, one of the sections may be able to help.

'Disk cannot be read from or written to' when syncing iPod or 'Firmware update failure' error when updating or restoring iPod - Apple Support.

Cheers,

Mario
