Q: Kernel Panics mid 2010 MBP

I have a mid-2010 MBP 17" and have been having kernel panics related to the Intel/ NVIDIA GPU for some time.

I used the GFXCard Status and that fixed the problem for some time. Then I installed Yosemite on another partition and the problem came back.

I came across a graphics card update for Snow Leopard but it requires 10-.6.4 and I am running 10.6.8.

I am wondering if I should downgrade Snow Leopard to 10.6.4? But the kernel panics happen even more when booted from Yosemite.

Not sure what to do. If anyone has had any luck with this problem, or even any ideas I would greatly appreciate it.
