Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that your iPhone displays a connect to iPhone graphic. Here are the best troubleshooting resources to start with when not being able to update or restore your iPhone.

Nov 23, 2015 12:21 PM in response to typhoonandrewby TalaDaniela,Tried to do new software installation - but now stuck at "connect to iTunes" screen on new iPhone6 plus. What can I do?
Did you manage to get this issue fixed? What helped?
I am suffering the same a you....
I tried to install the new software onto my iPhone 6 Plus and then it got stuck on the "connect to iTunes" screen.
I was told to install the new iTunes software - so did this. Still no luck.
My iTunes does not even recognize my iPhone when I connect it to the laptop, though it makes the "ding" noise, so knows it is there.
I tried doing this (as suggested by many others on these forums):
"Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home button for at least 10 seconds, and don't release when you see the Apple logo".
But I never "see the option to Restore or Update" message, so sadly cannot "choose Update".
There are no genius' appointments available till Wednesday and I cannot wait that long, so any support/tips are greatly appreciated.
Plus, as I cannot access my iPhone, I cannot use it to call the Apple Support for help. It's a catch 22 situation.

Feb 4, 2016 4:50 PM in response to typhoonandrewby vinceklnbo,hi guys this worked for me and im sure it would work for you, update your itunes if its not updated, restart your computer, using an ORIGINAL(i insist original) iphone USB cable, connect your phone, open itunes, press and hold the power button and home button altogether, immediately the apple logo appears release the power button, itunes will then respond... if you hadnt updated you could choose to update, if you need a restore click restore and everything will be okay.... I figured that you should not use cables that are not manufactured by apple to perform these operations

When I follow the suggestions nothing happens to my iphone or my computer. It looks like my itunes doesn't recognize my iphone.
What should I do ?
