Latest sync resulted in all data being erased. Tried the restore option but will not download from the Mac

Mac version 10.6.8

iPod Classic 160 GB

Latest sync resulted in all data being erased on the iPod. Tried the restore option after but itunes will not re download. Software version on iPod up to date.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Processor 3.06 Intel core i3
