You can only restore to iOS 6.16. Othersie you will get error messages.

What exactly happens when you place in Recovery Mode and DFU Mode and try to restore to 6.1.6 via iTunes?

    then it unzip firmware

then "verifying restoration from apple..." (in french)

don't if success and fail just after but it always say ERROR 3014)

No mater what iOS version was on a 4G iPod it will only restore to iOS 6.1.6.

    For your error message see:

Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build" - Apple Support

Sounds like it was jailbroken at some point. Was it?

If you have followed the instructions in the support document that Illaass provided, then you need to contact Apple Support. Was the device jailbroken, or did you attempt to jailbreak it? If you look at the link provided, that covers the 3014 error as well.

seller's said no but i think it was

the problem is that i don't know what version it was and what was done on it before...

do you think it's definitly dead ?

If it was jailbroken, it's unsupportable.

Try putting it in DFU mode and restoring iOS using iTunes. That may get it back to a working state. If it doesn't, it's likely destined for the recycle bin.

What IOS version that was previously on the iPod before is not relevant.

If jailbroken then that could cause your problem and Apple will not help and you will get no help here.

yes it covers mine's too, i just said that i've already read it

i'm gonna contact apple support but if it is an attempt to jailbreak that broke it they won't do anything for me i'm pretty sure

That is correct, as has been stated already. I responded to your post saying that you had error 3014, not the 3194 that is titled in the support document. Either way, if there was an attempt to jailbreak, and the recommendation that KiltedTim provided you to try the DFU mode to restore does not work, then Apple would not help if it is the jailbreak.

Your own attempt to install earlier, unsigned versions of iOS was enough to forfeit any rights to support.
