Q: I can't sign on to deauthorize all computers

I have a laptop that I know has been authorized before but, for some reason, it's not recognizing it.  It says that I can't authorize this system because I have reached my limit.  I do not have the other machines that would have been authorized before.  I would like to try to "deauthorize all" but I can't get authorized and sign in in the first place.  I really don't want to lose all of my stuff but I need some help.  Thanks.

You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.

      1. Open iTunes on a computer

      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."

      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.

      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".

      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.

You may only do this once per year.

After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.

If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

For more information on authorization and de-authorization: iTunes Store- Authorize or deauthorize your Mac or PC.

How can I "deauthorize all" if I can't authorize the system to sign on to begin with?

Try using the Deauthorize All command documented in this article, or if it's not applicable, the 'contact iTunes Store support' link at the bottom of it. Back up your files.
