Q: Iphone 5S won't charge when power is on, help

I purchased a non-Apple branded phone charger for my 5S as mine broke within the first week and wouldn't charge any more. I bought the non-Apple one as something to get me over until I could purchase a new Apple one.  It worked a treat and was efficient, I'm still using it to this day. However, about 2 days ago my phone wasn't charging when it was switched on. I found that it charged perfectly when my phone was switched off though. 

    I am still yet to update the software to iOs 8.1.3, I was wondering if anyone could help identify the problem with the charging. I figured it couldn't be a problem with the lead, as it's charging when the power isn't on. I was wondering if it could be a problem caused by the software not being up to date or if my phone charging port my be damaged or broken??? Someone please help, I'm completely at a loss to my options as the phone can't be hooked up to iTunes or anything.

Also, another problem I've been having is with my front camera. Whenever I switch from back to front, my camera completely crashes. I've tried restoring it, however it did not salvage the problem.
