    Greetings Ewan Lamont,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that you purchased the new version of Numbers on your Mac, but it will not download. To begin troubleshooting, I would suggest reading over and working through the attached article. If the issue continues, please let me know if the new Numbers is showing in your purchased section of the Mac App Store, is it downloading and making no progress or is it paused, and are there any alerts or errors?

    Cheers,

Thanks. It did download eventually. As I can't import my data from '08 version, I will continue using that until the end of my financial year and 1 May will start afresh with the new Numbers. I just have to plough through Numbers editing sold stock items as I find them manually scrolling. It is a hideous task but I can't see another way.

    Hi Ewan,

I agree that Search is woeful in Numbers 3.

You are wise to stay with Numbers '08 until you finish your accouts for the financial year (better the devil you know!)

Moving forward, there could come a day (no-one knows when) that an update to OS X means that Numbers '08 and/or '09 will no longer work.

How are your data organised? There could be ways to quickly find a stock item to mark it as sold. For example, sorting a table, using a LOOKUP function, or applying a filter to a table. Or the Pop-Up Menu in a Sheet Tab can take the focus to a table on another part of a Sheet.

A screen shot (without personal data) will help us understand your work-flow.

    Regards,

    Ian.

Edit: Please reply in this thread:

I have new Numbers and have lost all my data!
