    Hello kimberlyfrommerrimack,

It seems you are unable to send email using Mail. I have located an article which contains a series of troubleshooting steps you may want to review:

If you can’t send or receive email on your Mac - Apple Support

Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.

I had the same problem , but have it sorted now , so for anyone out there who wants to sort this out--- its' as follows :

    go to mail prefs

in the advanced tab -- make sure that "automatically detect and maintain account settings" is not checked , (there seems to be a something in yosemite that is different from mavericks and earlier OS that needs this to be unchecked) .

    in Account information tab

make sure that you select edit  smtp server list , and when you do this then choose the advanced tab and make sure you have entered the user name and the same password you used in the accounts tab . THATS IT , it will now work for you .   Hope this helps many of you   Chris
