alternatives to time machine

Does anyone have a recommendation of a good 3rd party backup software. I'm fed up with TimeMachine's more-or-less monthly verification errors and Apple's inability to help me because I have a WD MyCloud Mirror NAS. A backup system that trashes its backups monthly is not much use.

I have a MBPro 13", 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, was running Mavericks, now Yosemite. The NAS is a WD MyCloudMirror 4 TB (2 RAID-0 mirrored 2TB drives) NAS. It is plugged into my router, but communications from the PC to the network are usually via WIFI.

Thanks,

Dave

Tri-Backup from Tri-Edre is somewhat similar in function to Time Machine but is not as dependent on HFS+ (Mac OS Extended) data structures and may be more compatible with your NAS drive. I used it until Time Machine came along and was generally satisfied. For many reasons I do not consider clones to be an adequate backup, but there are several apps that will clone your drive to another or to a disk image file. The most widely known and used of these are Carbon Copy Cloner and SuperDuper. At the present time CCC has the edge in my opinion because it can handle not only the Yosemite boot drive but also the Recovery drive.
