why does my iPhone 6 receive duplicate text messages ? I had this issue years ago with another iPhone and I believe turning off I-messaging resolved, does anyone have another solution other then turning off iMessaging feature?

Did you ever get this resolved? I am having the same issue. It only happens with SOME (not all) people on iMessage. I get their message first as an iMessage, and then as a text. It is annoying and weird. I’ve toggled iMessage on/off, hard reset phone, reset network settings.
Unfortunately no. It happens to my husband occasionally to. We noticed it only happens if either we, or the other person is in a bad coverage area. iMessage doesn’t think the message is going through, then sends it as a text. iMessage keeps trying and then sends it when it can. Hence, two messages. So annoying!!!
How many entries do you have in Settings->Messages->Send & Receive?
You can also try toggling iMessage off and then back on. I'm not sure if that is the same thing as your "turning off iMessaging feature."
I have two my cell number and my email address.
Does the problem happen with every message?
no currently only with one particular person who also has I-messaging, but this just invaded our current conversation.
If you are seeing the problem with one other person, it is entirely possible the problem exists with their phone, not yours.
Have you tried toggling iMessage off (leave it for a few minutes) and then back on?
No I haven't but I will. I will have her turn off her i-messaging and have her send me a message later and see if that stops the problem.

Ever resolve this? Just started happening to me. Occasionally, not often, my husband texts me a picture and if comes through 10 minutes later as a text AND an iMessage. Yet they have yep different time stamps on them (iMessage stamped first, but comes thru second). So annoying!
