my japanese macbook pro (late 2011) physical keyboard does not match with the on screen japanese keyboard in windows 8.1 so does caps lock

I am using windows 8.1 pro on my Japanese macbook pro (Late 2011) and enabled japanese language but the problem is that when i press caps lock (lower left corner) it changes the input method from english to japanese. I checked my on screen keyboard (OSK) in windows and its different from my physical keyboard i.e. keys are different on my physical keyboard compared to OSK. Can anyone help me?

Windows uses its own keyboard layouts. You might check inside Windows and see if there is a layout called "Japanese (Apple)" that is a better fit.

Windows has Microsoft IME layout for Japanese which is the only option (as far as I could find) available.

Windows does require language packs to be installed, if you want the physical keyboard to match the on-screen keyboard.

In fact after installing japanese language pack my display language changed to japanese which took me about an hour to change back to english. That was a learning too 🙂. In fact I studied all your articles and what I could get from them is that till windows 7 pressing "shift + caps lock" changes this input method but in windows 8.1 only pressing caps lock changes it. I want my caps lock back to its default functioning which is turning caps lock on.

Yes buddy pressing shift+caps switches on caps lock and I want it in its legacy way i.e. switching on caps lock by just pressing caps lock like in US keyboard.

Yes Loner,

With external keyboard everything works perfectly fine. Problem lies with built in keyboard. I am attaching my macbook pro image for better comprehension

Your Caps key is where a US Fn key is located. Can you try the Control key to check its behavior?

when I press Control key it turn on Caps lock on "on screen keyboard" but actually caps lock remains off and control key performs its own function. Check attached image where i pressed control key and it highlights Caps key but caps does not function until I turn caps lock on using shift+caps lock.

If you do not use the physical keyboard, but only use the on-screen Caps Lock, does the physical keyboard Caps Lock light up?
