Feb 17, 2015 9:40 AM in response to jaked22by Kappy,First, upgrade to Yosemite 10.10.2 by downloading and installing OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 Combo Update. Second, open Spotlight preferences, click on the Privacy tab, then drag the Desktop icon for the HDD into the list. Wait 30 seconds, select the disk in the list and click on the Delete [-] button. This will force Spotlight to re-index the hard drive. Wait until indexing is complete which may take an hour or so. Then recheck storage.

You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.
