Transfer iMovie project from iPad to imac

How do I open an iMovie project that was created on my iPad air 2 on my iMac imove for further editing. I have copied the project to my desktop but it will not open in iMovie on my iMac

To get an iMovie project from your iPad into your computer to work on it there in iMovie, follow the steps in this article -

Brett, is this still relevant? Important as I am traveling and will need to import to mac mini to finish travel movie. Article is dated 2012?????

HI all, any result to the above?

i Too will be Traveling with my iPad and beginning a project on there to hopefully be completed on my Mac when I get home. I've been playing around with the export/import options but have not managed to get the project imported to iMovie successfully?

No, it doesn't work. That method is deprecated. I have posted a new question and hopefully someone with more recent information will answer it.
