Why can't I open a PDF document in Word. I have Microsoft Office:Mac 2011 installed because I have to email PDF and word documents to my clients. Please help.
I currently have been viewing them in Preview. Is that the only way?

Word is a text processor, not a PDF viewer. You can embed a PDF document in a Word document, but that's pretty much it. Besides Preview there are numerous third-party applications that can also view PDFs such as Adobe Reader.
I guess I'm used to opening them in Word on my Windows desktop. Thought it would be just as easy 😟.
Office on the Mac and Windows are only remotely the same.

The feature to open a PDF with Word has never been implemented on the Mac version of Office 2011 or 2016.
