iMac (20-inch Mid 2007), Mac OS X (10.6.8)
OK. So share them.
Embarrassing, but I don't know how. I ran the software, got a report and saved it to the 'clipboard'. But I have no idea what or where the clipboard is.
Run it again.
With the total lack of any useful information provided here, there isn't much we are going to be able to do without it.
Allan,
I appreciate you trying to help. I've had to keep stepping away but have some time today if you're available. Again, my trouble is I can run etrecheck and save the report to the 'clipboard', but then don't know how to find it to share it.
Once you copy it to the clipboard, open a new post on this thread and paste it into that post so we can read it.
Okay, I'll try to do that now.
Problem description:
My iMac is running very slow.

1 GB of RAM is the minimum amount to install Snow Leopard. You might want to consider increasing that.
I also suggest you review your login items. You have a bunch and some of them appears to be worthless such as WD SecurityHelper. If you open them when you need them that would reduce the demand for RAM.
You might also want to consider shutting down nightly.
Thanks very much. As for increasing my RAM, how would I do that?
For directions on how to upgrade RAM, go to https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iMac+Intel+20-Inch+EMC+2133+and+2210+RAM+Replacemen t/990
To find out what RAM you need and how much your iMac can use go to http://www.crucial.com
Once there download the scanner. It will report back to Crucial the specs on iMac and then report back to you which cards and how many your Mac can use.
Once you know the part number for the RAM cards your iMac needs you can go to other sites, such as http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/apple/memory/ to see if you can find a better price.
Thanks very much.
Personally I would look on Western Digital's site for ways to remove their software. I'm not sure what benefit you get from it, and WD software has been known to cause issues on other OS's. If you do need it installed just be certain it is up to date for 10.6.
Check these are used & needed too, they are the 'system extensions', it's important you keep them up to date.
smarttech.com SupportsInk
smarttech.com SMARTBoard
tectona.com PL2303
Look for the developer that made them to see if they have updates that work with 10.6 (or remove them if you no longer need them - the developer should have instructions or a tool to uninstall them.
Do you have any actual issues with the Mac? The RAM does need increasing if possible.
No, the Mac is generally pretty good. Just very slow when using Safari. Especially with other apps like Entourage and/or Word open. Increasing the RAM sounds like a good place to start. The Western Digital software is for an external hard drive I use.
As Drew said, WD software does not have a good reputation for reliable service on Macs. Further it usually doesn't do anything that can't be done with OS X any way. I standby my original suggestion get rid of it.
