Q: 5s shuts off while using camera, taking videos or shooting videos excessively.

Hi,

I've bought iPhone 5s last year in December. Last summer it showed some strange battery problems. It started to shut itself off at around %20 while using camera for taking photos and videos. After updating to iOS8, the symptoms became more frequent and annoying. First I thought it could be an update problem and thought a restore could solve it but it did not.

I restored my phone twice, first restored through iTunes and restored using iCloud backup, it did not work. Then I restored it again and set it up as a new iPhone. It still have the problem.

Now it shuts itself off at around %60 battery level if I start taking photos a bit frequently... When it is off I cannot turn it on for about 10 minutes, it shows "battery needs to be recharhed" image. When it turns on, It has a chance to shuts itself off again immediately, if not it runs okay till I take pictures again. It opens at the same battery level.

So I asked this to warranty supplier company (which is a contractor and a distrubitor of iphone to Turkey, called GenPa and they said "unfortunately, it is a known problem" and they offer to change its battery but didn't have the replacement batteries currently but waiting them to arrive in two weeks so I can bring my phone and change the battery.

Is this battery replacement thing official? Is this problem common? What is Apple stance on this? I've red that apple acknowledged that "some 5s models are defect" and they were contacted. Is there a chance I may not contacted because I live in Turkey? If I bring my phone to Apple Store what can they do about this?

Thanks for taking time for reading this.

P.S. Phones camera is quite imported for me as I'm a filmmaker and using it for various reason like location scouting or shooting short videos with it. So I need to solve this. I'm using 5s with moment lenses more than my Blackmagic pocket.
