Feb 22, 2015 9:06 PM in response to vazandrewby geneshof808,Do you know why the AirPlay icon would not show up in iTunes? It has never shown up in the spot the information guides show it appearing?

Feb 22, 2015 9:11 PM in response to geneshof808by vazandrew,That would be due to something within the network. I assume both are on the same network, if on wifi try connecting Apple TV via Ethernet. Check that required ports are open on the router.

Feb 23, 2015 1:59 PM in response to colinfromadorby EvBerlin,Know what? Yeah I'm having a very similar crap issue. Upgraded iPad to 8.x something... Was running Netflix via AirPlay to my appletv and after 10 minutes it shut itself off. I tried to get it up again and it started asking me for the AirPlay code, The security screen on my Apple TV popped up where the settings are for this ******** 'feature'
EVen though None is chosen instead of Onscreen code in the security window on the Apple TV, it's still prompting me for the **** code. Unlike one of the previous posters, 50% of the time, a code actually does pop up on my tv, right under where the checked box for 'none' (no code please) is. What's worse is that entering the code only causes a new window to show up asking for a new code. Yes, I've run thru every combination of settings to see if any of the work. It's a no go.
total total crap.

Feb 26, 2015 12:42 PM in response to vazandrewby elplatt237,I am having the exact same issue after running software update on my ATV. "None" is selected as the security method. Some laptops are able to connect immediately, others get a popup that says "Enter the AirPlay code for " my network.

Feb 28, 2015 6:50 AM in response to vazandrewby KimV82,I have exactly the same issue, so more than just two. All started since I upgraded the op-systems on my i-pad and laptop. Tried reset/restore on the ATV, same issue. As the only difference was the operating systems on the other devises, insinuates that it is not a network issue as it worked perfectly before the upgrades.
Has anyone resolved this issue, as it is becoming infuriating!

Apr 11, 2015 1:48 PM in response to colinfromadorby polygloton,I had the same problem. I upgraded to Yosemite and suddenly my Apple TV wouldn't connect. It kept asking me for a code even though I had no restrictions enabled. Tried enabling a code, still didn't work with the code. Network was fine. Updated the Apple TV, no difference. I finally figured it out. I disabled my firewall and like magic it suddenly started working. I had enabled the firewall during the Yosemite upgrade.
Does anyone know what firewall rules need to be set so that Apple TV will work?

Aug 7, 2015 5:20 PM in response to the woodworkerby BopCat,I have a similar problem. Whenever I open up either Quicktime Player 7 on my Macbook Pro I get the popup. I'd love to know how to shut it off.
Happens with iTunes as well.

Aug 7, 2015 6:29 PM in response to BopCatby BopCat,Tried resetting apple tv. Now I can't get any sound unless I turn off Wi-Fi. It says I'm not connected to Airplay when I turn wi-fi back on. So I clicked to turn Airplay on. Then I tried disconnecting, and it won't disconnect.
I've been using apple products for nearly 20 years, and I've never had the amount of problems I've had in the last couple months. This is crap.
By the way, if it's any use to anyone - when I'm asked for the code it's displaying on my tv.

Aug 7, 2015 7:10 PM in response to BopCatby BopCat,I was getting the popups a few times a minute. Very frustrating. This is just garbage.
Now the popups have stopped, but Airplay is still automatically connecting whenever I plug in my audio cable. I plug it it, and Airplay comes on, and can't be turned off. I unplug the cable, and it's off.
Of course I have no idea why this is happening or how to stop it.

Feb 3, 2016 3:37 AM in response to usernameLynnby Woodburn86,Same problem. Tried all fixes but failed. MacBook and latest Apple TV are all running latest software, including Yosemit update earlier this week. Tried turning security password requirement on and off via AppleTV, but that did nothing. On Airplay section of AppleTV, I was able to generate a code by toggling the Require Device Verification setting from Off to On. Now, a 4 digit code appears, but my Macbook keeps telling me that it is the incorrect code. Huh? This is a frustrating new development.
