Q: iPhone 6 Plus bluetooth disconnecting

I purchased new iPhone 6 Plus one week ago - 11 Feb; it has latest iOS 8.1.3

Cannot control or command bluetooth settings - when I make a selection to either use my car's bluetooth or a Plantronics bluetooth (both are paired to iPhone), I have to manually select the bluetooth to use which is ok, I don't remember if thats how that is supposed to work or not - sometimes the phone detects bluetooth on it's own and assigns that device for the call (sometimes - not always), but no matter what selection I make or the phone has made, after a few seconds on a bluetooth call the phone resets itself and reverts to using the phone as the speaking device instead of the assigned bluetooth.

What is up with that?  This cannot be how it is supposed to be, but I cannot see what I'm not doing or that my hardware is faulty - I've read numerous complaints about this, they seem endless, I have not found a solution in any of the posts and decided to stop looking and just outright ask for help.

Thanks everyone!

    Hi Mikey,

When you state the iPhone resets itself and reverts to using the phone as the speaking device, it sounds like it is losing connection with the bluetooth device.

There's a section in this article for "Bluetooth disconnects, intermittent connectivity, or unable to find".

iOS: Troubleshooting Bluetooth connections - Apple Support

Bluetooth disconnects, intermittent connectivity, or unable to find

    • Move your iOS device closer to the Bluetooth accessory.
    • Position your iOS device and Bluetooth accessory in direct line of sight of each other. For example, move the Bluetooth accessory and iOS device to the same side of your body.
    • Remove any case, stand, or other accessories from your iOS device and see if performance improves.
    • Check for sources of potential interference and move both the iOS device and the Bluetooth accessory away from other electronic devices.
    • Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
      • This will reset all network settings including: previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords, recently used Bluetooth accessories, VPN, and APN settings.

Note there is a further section for "If your device is still experiencing issues".

    Regards,
