how can i factory unlock my iPhone 3gs bought from Orange Switzerland!
Only the carrier that the phone is locked to is authorized to unlock it.
So you will need to contact Orange.

Feb 18, 2015 9:14 AM in response to Manjit Sandhuby Meg St._Clair,"Factory unlocked" would mean it came from the factory without ever having been locked at all. If the phone you have is locked to Orange, you'll need to call them and see if they will unlock it for you.

Feb 18, 2015 9:15 AM in response to Manjit Sandhuby RazoR65,In Settings > Info > General you will find the IMEI no. of the device.
Many carriers provide an online service by entering the IMEI-no. on their homepage.
Just try your luck, otherwise you have to contact the carrier directly.

Feb 20, 2015 10:16 AM in response to Manjit Sandhuby Manjit Sandhu, contacted orange. they told me to restore the phone, i did that but now it is not activating. what can be done?
-
Feb 20, 2015 12:34 PM in response to Manjit Sandhuby deggie,If Orange contacted you they usually say to wait 24 hours before trying to unlock the phone. Did you wait 24 hours?
Then you need to have a SIM in the phone and Restore it in iTunes as a NEW phone, NOT from a backup. You should get a message saying, "Congratulations, your iPhone is now unlocked."

Feb 22, 2015 8:37 AM in response to deggieby Manjit Sandhu, they did not ask me to wait for 24 hours. i am regularly trying to activate through wifi, i keep getting a message 'your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPhone to iTunes to activate it.' I've tried this for 2 days now. Also, through iTunes it keeps saying 'no sim card in the phone' whereas i have tried it with the sim.

Feb 22, 2015 2:42 PM in response to Manjit Sandhuby deggie,Have you tried it on a different computer?
If this 3GS was previously jailbroken to unlock it then the baseband chip may have been permanently altered and you will not be able to activate that phone.
