I tried to use the Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter with my existing Apple 30" Cinema Display. I actually tried two different ones. Both showed lots of colored sparkles in black areas of the screen. Apple support was not very helpful or interested. Very unfortunate since I had just dropped $6000 on a new MacPro and this is the Apple recommended adapter to connect to the ultimate (their words) Apple 30" Cinema Display. (Check the Apple store MacPro accessories.) After weeks of frustration, I bought a Kanex C30 Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI $99. Works great! No sparkles. May even wake from sleep faster. Not as pretty, no pass-thru USB, but now I can use my multi-thousand dollar monitor. Thanks Kanex. Apple take a lesson.
