How to unlock files from ntfs to mac journaled

I have an external hard drive with movies that I used on my PC (which I am no longer using). It is NTFS formatted. I tried to copy the filed from the NTFS external hard drive to another external hard drive that is MAC OS X (Journaled). The files are locked on the new external hard drive. Is there anyway to unlock these files?

I just upgraded my MBP to Yosemite. The NTFS external hard drive is a 2TB Toshiba and the MAC OS X (Journaled) is a 3TB Toshiba hard drive.
