Nano cannot be found by iTunes

I haven't been able to get my nano to sync. So I ran diagnostics in iTunes and it says that my nano cannot be found even though it is plugged in with the USB cord it came with. Any ideas on how to fix this? The nano still charges when it is plugged in so I don't think it is a problem with the cord. I also tried a friend's cord and their computer and had the same result (that it couldn't be found). Thank you for any help.

Hello user44462,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that when you connect your iPod nano to your computer, it charges but does not show up in iTunes so that you can sync. To begin troubleshooting this situation, I would recommend working through the steps provided in the attached link.
