Safari 8 won't open any links in new tabs or new windows

After I updated to Yosemite safari no longer works properly. Whenever I try and open a new tab it does not show up unless I click on the User uploaded file button. Then once I do it shows an empty tab. It does this if I try and open a new link in a tab as well. It will only show an empty tab. Also, If I try and open up a new window or a link in a new window it either won't do it or it will act as if it is going to do it, but only result in the spinning will. Then it will freeze and i'll have to force quit out of it.

I tried this https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6604109 and it doesn't work. I also tried this https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6683283. However the only time safari worked normally was when I booted up in the Safari Only Guest Mode.

Delete Safari.plist file.

Quit all applications. Click on an empty spot on the desktop to activate Finder.

Hold the “Option” key down and click the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.

Select “Library” from the drop down.

Library > Preferences > com.apple.Safari.plist

Right click it and select "Move to Trash". Close Finder window.

Please don’t empty the Trash.

Restart. Launch Safari.

Test Safari.

Put back the com.apple.Safari.plist

If this doesn’t help, right click the Trash icon in the Dock and select “Open”.

Right click the com.apple.Safari.plist and select “Put Back”.

Thank you for suggesting this. Upon looking at my extensions I saw that I had Glims installed. I'd tried looking for it earlier on my computer, but it never showed up. It's as if it's hidden in the hard drive. However it turns out I had to actually go to my "library>application support" in order to find the 'Glims" folder. Once I deleted it and emptied the trash Safari began working normally.
