in Safari I have a pop up message "inmessagealert.com" that says a Potential Threat Detected warning and is asking me to call a number for assisatance on how to remove the virus and then I press okay, any other solution does not work even if I close Safari and come back the message is still there, so I cannot use Safari at all

THanks, but my message still pops up when I reopen Safari
Safari > Preference... > Security > Disable JavaScript.
Quit and Press Shift + ReStart Safari.
If okay, you can with Javascript back on.

You should take care where you surf and don't be tempted downloading free software.
I have same problem- iPad locked with the "Potential Thread Detected" notice asking me to call a toll free number.
I see the solution above to "Force" quit safari. How do I do that? I can't get to a place that allows me to do that.
Double tap the Home button, then swipe upwards on the Safari preview.
Go to Settings - Safari - Clear History.
Restart Safari.

I got the same issue and I called the number. They access my computer and after 5 minutes, they said that I should pay 199$ to fix the problem but I refused and I disconnect the desktop connection. Now by seeing these conversations, I don't know if my laptop is secure or not. Could anyone please help me how to find out?

If you granted criminals access to your Mac, it should no longer be considered secure.
Start your own Discussion, so that you can evaluate your options.
You should erase and reformat your hard drive, then restore your computer from a backup made prior to when you allowed them access. Change your passwords and other critical information also. You don't know what software might have been installed.
