Still having troubles deleting the myNOOK application. I've made sure it wasn't an app that automatically turned on on the macbook and I also tried to restart my computer then delete it and it still giving me the same message, "the item myNOOK can't be moved to the trash because it's open even when both items are closed.

Try Force Quit under the Apple menu. If it's not listed there open Activity Monitor find the running process and force quit it there.
Hi Ty clicking on the app and then click Command /Delete. Did you download any Ebooks to your MBP and put them in a folder somewhere.
Yes, finally!! It was the activity monitor I had to go to and force quit the myNOOK app and I was finally able to delete it, thank you both for all your help!
