I recently just bought an itunes card from giant and when i tried to redeem it, it said "enter a valid code." Please help me.

I recently went to giant and bought an itunes card, and when i tried to redeem it it said "enter a valid code." I really don't know what to do and is seriously freaking out right now because i spent 40 dollars on a card that cannot be redeemed. Please can anyone help me out on this??

iPod touch (4th generation), iOS 6.1.6, I really don't know what to do. :(
