I accidentally hit paste and it deleted my paper.. help!!
Can it be found?
My daughter highlighted the paper and was going to copy it to send in an email to me and she accidentally hit the paste button after it was all highlighted. This deleted all the highlighted section and then pasted what was on the paste. She was not aware that there was a undo button before she started hitting other commands to get it back.
If you haven't done anything else, check the Edit dropdown and see if Undo is available to click on.
Cheers,

Menu > File > Revert
and look back through the copies till you find the one you had.
You also can do multiple Undoes.

Exactly how did that delete your paper? Had you made a clipboard Copy of the something else and then pasted that where your paper was? I'm trying to understand how what you described would have deleted your paper.
Seems that if the clipboard contained a copy of the paper, then when she pasted it should have been pasted back into the document replacing the old selection.
Nevertheless, this sounds like an overwrite problem, and you cannot recover a file that has been overwritten by another. If your editor does not make automatic backups that you can restore, then your paper is lost for good. But, you can always try recovery software just in case:
General File Recovery
If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten by using recovery software such as MAC Data Recovery, Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro. Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive. Two free alternatives are Disk Drill and TestDisk. Look for them and demos at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads. Recovery software usually provide trial versions that enable you to determine if the software would help before actually paying for it. Beyond this or if the drive has completely failed, then you would need to send the drive to a recovery service which is very expensive.
The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.

Thanks but it did not get it back..:(
Wow! What is that? Is it Time Machine or a Time Machine like thing? Whatever it is, it is very cool!!!
