Mac Book Pro 13' inch

Hi.

I was interested in knowing how I am able to look after my battery to the best of it's ability. I received it for my birthday a few days ago and got told to use it until it is drained and then charge without use until 100%, will I have to do this each time I use my Mac? Will my battery get damaged if I use the device while charging it? I just love this laptop and don't want it breaking on me anytime soon!
