Upgrade the computer to Mavericks or Yosemite; Mavericks will only be available if you downloaded the full installer for it before Yosemite came out.

Thanks for your help so far. I have now successfully downloaded Yosemite but it still tells me there are no updates.
Any clues as to how I can upgrade my Logic pro x 10.0.7 to the new 10.1?
Make sure you are logged into the app store with the same Apple ID you used when originally purchasing Logic X.
It should then be under Updates.
If it's not under Updates (which it should be), go to the 'Purchases' tab and you should see Logic X in there and it should have an Update button next to it.
Also, make sure you have NOT moved or re-named Logic from the Applications folder on your Mac.
I'm baffled now. I am logged in with the same ID. It's not under updates. The original Logic Pro X is there under purchases.
But instead of having an update button next to it, it has one saying install. But it's already installed and working fine.
And the app is safely in the apps folder where it should be.
In the purchases tab click on the Logic icon and it will take you to the Logic page with the version you'll be downloading. For example, in my 'Purchases' tab I have iPhoto and 'Install' (like you do with Logic). If I click on that iPhoto icon it takes me to the iPhoto 9.6 page. I have iPhoto 9.4.3 on my Mac (don't use iPhoto). If I click install, the new iPhoto will download and replace the old one.
That's, I'm pretty sure, what will happen with your Logic. The new 10.1 version will over write your older version.
OK, I just did this with the iPhoto example and that's exactly what happened. The old iPhoto got overwritten by the new.
Brilliant. Thanks that has cracked it. Many thanks for your advice.
Excellent. Glad you got it sorted. Logic 10.1 is the first version of X I actually like over 9.1.8.
