iTunes On GoFlex Home NAS

Hi Everyone,

I have recently moved my 8,000 song iTunes library to my Seagate GoFlex Home NAS (/Volumes/GoFlex Home Public/Music/iTunes) . All the songs and playlists play fine, so no problems there. However, when I try to ADD to the library (either by buying a song from the store or ripping a CD), I get a permissions error (iTunes couldn't download your purchase: You don't have write access to your iTunes Media folder or a folder within it).

As far as I'm aware the drive is set up correctly permissions wise, but obviously something isn't right.

Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers,

Mark

Read the part about changing permissions on the iTunes folder in: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2443558?answerId=11583914022#11583914022

It is also possible because this is a NAS you are witnessing one of the many issues that arise when using NAS with iTunes because iTunes has to operate through the server software written by the NAS manufacturer. iTunes does not always play nicely with NAS vs. a straight-forward external hard drive.
