I am trying to max the OS X updates for a Late 2006 iMac w/ 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor. Think I can upgrade to Lion 10.7, but first need to upgrade to Snow Leopard. Downloaded Snow Leopard from Apple, but unable to open without v10.5 Leopard. Any suggestions?

Snow Leopard (10.6) can not be downloaded. You will need the retail DVD, available at http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
You can then upgrade directly from Tiger (10.4.11).
