I've sent files from my iPhone to my Mac before using AirDrop but now my Mac just doesn't show up as an option to send things to even though I had no problem with it before.

I've tried that. I've sent files before and didn't have a problem. I have my wifi and bluetooth turned on on both devices and they're right next to each other. And my iPhone shows up as an option to send stuff to on my mac when I open AirDrop but my mac doesn't show up on my iPhone.
Have you tried rebooting both the phone and the Mac?
Yes. and I updated the software on both of them to the latest version possible.
