cannot see iphone n itunes

I have attempted to move part of my msic library to an iphone that i am not using as a phone and in itunes i cannot see the device. i am using windows 8 and the apple mobile device driver is not installed. i attempted to download the driver using the steps stated on the web and keep getting an error message of code 10 and the driver will not work properly???????????????????
