iMac 27 not reading cd/dvd drive
Can't get my cd/dvd drive to work on IMac 27. Sounds like it's trying to read it, but just ejects it. What should I try? (Using Yosemite)
Thanks.

What model iMac do you have? Does this happen with both CD and DVD discs? What type of disc are these? Those that you've burned previously or commercial disks? Or are these blank disks? Have you verified that the disks work in another Mac?
Try using a cleaning disk, one with dry brushes, to clean the optical drive.
Using iMac 27 late model 2010. Have tried using commercial and previously burned cds and dvds. Worked fine prior to installing Yosemite. Since Yosemite install, not reading; just ejects.
Others have reported the same issue but none of the topics has a solved as I recall. Boot into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, and see if you can read them from there.
Tried cleaning the drive, but the cd cleaner doesn't work. Computer doesn't recognize the drive. Nothing is working for cd drive.
Ran diagnostics and problem was resolved. Thank you so much.
