Q: Kernel_Task taking a lot of ram

Hey guys, earlier today i opened activity manager and found out that "Kernel_Task" was taking up to 700MB in my memory.

Does anybody know how to fix this and why is it there? thanks.

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Assuming that your computer is operating without issues, what you are seeing is perfectly normal.

Review this Apple support article.

The metric is no longer the amount of RAM being used, but PRESSURE. The OSX will try to use as much RAM as is available in order to increase efficiency. If the pressure is green, then there is no problem. If the color changes to yellow or red, then look for possible relief.
