Don't feel alone dodda_rrr. Same exact thing happened to me yesterday (2/23/15) I have Apple Care, live chatted, told them what happened and have an appointment this afternoon. Rhythm and Rhyme is correct. Apple Care will cover it. Did you ever get yours to work?
24hrs after I tried air drying it, shaking drops out and letting it sit plug side down, it actually started working when I plugged in my off brand charger off my work laptop over 2 hrs ago. I got the empty cell charging symbol and within 5min the APPLE Icon came up and then my screen saver. It has been 2 and half hours as I type this now and I have been able to text, take pictures, Voxer, check email, weather and let me pause to browse safari........just browsed several sites and seems to be doing ok. If I didn't know I dropped it in the toilet ( may I insert here, DO NOT USE THE NECKCHAIN IPHONE 6 holder from BBB) I would be none the wiser as it is acting like it did pre toilet plunge. And according to a webpage I found on how to treat an Iphone with water submersion, I did everything you were not suppose to, ie blow hot air into openings, hit wake up button, and plug charger in.
I did not take the phone apart though. After shaking out the drops til I saw no more, then accidentally hitting the wake button (ATTENTION APPLE, Put the On/off button back ON TOP!!!!) I saw my screen turn on with a text message. So I thought, great, but after more hot air drying and then sitting in warm place for an hour I brought it to my desk, hit wake button and got Apple Icon but a screen would never appear and APPLE icon faded. I then proceeded to plug charger into it and got APPLE Icon to come up, then same fade. After 15min of this I could no longer get anything on the screen. Got home last night and tried plugging in the Apple charger cord that came with the phone and NOTHING. Brought the phone with me to work, and about 2hrs ago said, what the heck, I will plug the off brand charger cable into it and WAHLAH!!!
Now, I am going to keep my appointment with the Apple Store to get their analysis, but it appears my IPHONE 6 may have survived a 2 second water submersion by simply shaking the water out and letting it sit for 24hrs.
I hope all reading find this helpful and hope dodda_rrr has/had a similar success story. I will follow up on this post after meeting with Apple Techs.
